REFLECTIONS IN ART + CULTURE

Tara McPherson and The Cotton Candy Machine

Tara McPherson is an artist based out of New York City. Her striking artwork is seductive, inspiring and is often filled with pop and space-age infused images and childlike characters. Creating art about people and their odd ways, her characters seem to exude an idealized innocence with a glimpse of hard earned wisdom in their eyes. Recalling many issues from childhood and good old life experience, she creates images that are thought provoking and seductive.Tara McPherson’s limited edition silkscreens keep alive the 60s and 70s tradition of producing collectable gig posters that are also stunning works of art. With even  ELLE Magazine referring to her as "the crown princess of poster art." As well as creating limited edition prints, paintings, toys, comic books and even her own line of stationery. She is also a bass player and started her artistic career by creating gig posters for her own band; The New York Times. And as of 2011, along with Sean Leonard, is co-owner of The Cotton Candy Machine art boutique located in Brooklyn, NYC.
